About The Briefing Room

The concept of the Briefing Room developed from the need for joint consultative meetings with major Jamaican enterprises on international trade issues. Its establishment facilitates the dissemination of international trade data to the leaders of these enterprises so as to facilitate better trade decisions both locally and internationally.

The Briefing Room is a Project of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce and its inception was directed by JCC's Past President, Anthony Chang.

MISSION: The mission of the Briefing Room is to provide credible, vital and timely trade-related information to the Jamaican business community which will assist with firm-level decision-making and will engender proactivity in businesspersons with regards to trade negotiations.

OBJECTIVES: In order to service the direct needs and interests of stakeholders, the Briefing Room has produced and distributed a series of trade information products that are now being centered around three (3) major objectives:

  1. To deliver trade-related information to the business community for the explicit purpose of enhancing firm-level decision-making.
  2. To create an informed and vibrant business community that proactively participates in our country's trade negotiating processes.
  3. To probe and offer solutions to firm-level and sector specific issues such as process improvement, strategies for entering trade markets, leadership concerns and changing management blueprints and internal control. This also entails small-group follow-ups with participants and focus-group examinations of specific topics.

VISION: The hallmark of the Briefing Room's products is that they are tactically delivered and substantial.

Businesspersons must walk away from each session conducted, knowing that they have learnt vital information that will greatly assist them in the business of trade. They must feel that if they do not attend, important information, not gleaned anywhere else or available through any other media has passed them by. In order to produce this effect we focus on building content around serious trade-related issues, and on the business of moving knowledge of these issues through the Jamaican business community. The Briefing Room's principals have put together a suite of products focus on both delivering information as well as in engaging our businesspersons - a recipe for more enduring outcomes. 

CONCEPTS AND PRODUCTS: There are numerous concepts and products that are in place to facilitate the successful completion of the Briefing Room's objective. They all aim to deliver the most credible and up-to-date information right when you need them.

The products being offered are divided into:

  • Interactive Products where the information is given to an audience which is able to engage in the delivery process.
  • Informative Products where the information is presented on paper or as an email and where the recipient of the information has no input to the delivery process.
