| Confidence Indices |
In early 2001 The JCC's Conference Board in collaboration with the Survey Research Centre of the University of Michigan introduced the first Jamaican Business and Consumer Confidence surveys and the indices derived from these surveys to the local business community.
Fashioned from the US Business and Consumer Confidence surveys, the Jamaican versions are similarly aimed at garnering the views of both consumers and businesses and are considered to be quite accurate predictors of economic activity.
The local surveys are conducted by Market Research Services Ltd. for the Conference Board and the results are released quarterly. Prof. Richard Curtin , head of the Survey Research Centre and advisor to the JCC's Conference Board discusses the results which are available in summary and more detailed reports for members and sponsors of the Conference Board.
