Ms. Elizabeth Hartley, Hon. TREASURER
Elizabeth (Liz) holds a BSc (Physics) from the University of Sussex and is a qualified Chartered Accountant. She has lived in Jamaica for approximately nineteen years and has been involved over the period in many community organizations including being treasurer of the Associations of Women’s Organisations in Jamaica (AWOJA) and of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce. She is a Council member of the Institute of Management Consultants of Jamaica, a member of the Taxation Committee of Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Course Developer for ACCA courses delivered by the Student Accountancy Training Consortium.
She first came from the UK in 1982 and worked with Coopers and Lybrand for three years to depart in 1985 and travel around the world. In 1986 she worked in Rome with the World Food Programme before returning to the UK where she had two children - Ian (b1987) and Alicia (b1990). In 1991 she returned to Jamaica with the children to work at a firm which was previously Ernst & Young, Jamaica. In 1994 she headed up the consulting division whilst retaining part of the personnel development programme. From August 1997, she had total control and responsibility for the Consulting Department as an Associate.
In January 2001 she joined the team to establish the Jamaican office of the Caribbean practice of Ernst & Young and left in July 2002 to start her own business, Accounting Options, Chartered Accountants which is involved mainly in business advisory and consulting.
Her pastimes include playing squash and reading.
