Mr. Lloyd Distant, 2008 - 2012

Currently LIME (formerly Cable & Wireless Jamaica) Senior Vice President for Sales, Lloyd has a strong finance and technology background supported by an M.B.A. in Finance from the New York Institute of Technology. He has one of the most comprehensive insights into the telecommunications and information technology industry developed through his 17-year involvement in the industry, which has seen him holding several senior management positions at both Cable & Wireless and in the private Sector.

Over the years, his experience in the telecommunications industry spanned diverse areas including budget and financial systems management, customer relationship management as well as having specific oversight responsibilities for the design and implementation of complex data networks for C&W’s customers in Jamaica. During his tenure, Lloyd has had sales and operational responsibilities for Data, Internet, Prepaid Calling card and Business Systems. In addition, he was a principal driver for the C&W project to provide “Fibre-to-the-curb” within strategic locales and the provision of an ATM backbone for the delivery of telecommunication services. More recently he has been focused on the introduction of a comprehensive product set designed for specific customer and industry segments which has resulted in the implementation of a metropolitan Ethernet data and IP transport service, drove C&W’s foray into the Managed Hosting and Services arena and offering more comprehensive Business Voice offerings (including a low cost Business VoIP service) in the Jamaican market.

As a consultant, Lloyd focused on developing and implementing strategic plans for new entrants into the telecommunications market as well as business transformation plans for many Major corporate customers. Additionally, the experience allowed him to build on his design and project management experience that consistently resulted in timely production of project deliverables.

Up until recently, as the executive with Line of Business responsibility for Business Solutions, Lloyd’s focus was on completing the transformational requirements for the company’s drive on revenue growth and building customer relationships as C&WJ created “partners for life”.

On October 1st of this year, as part of LIME’s One Caribbean reorganization, Lloyd’s portfolio was expanded to taking on all Sales (both Corporate and Retail) for LIME’s Jamaican business unit.

Lloyd is an active community leader, and is currently a Director of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce and represents LIME on the PSOJ council. He is a distinguished President of the Kiwanis club of Downtown Kingston and for a number of years served the Kingston Parish Church as its Treasurer and Chairman of its Finance Committee.

Lloyd is an avid reader of varied topics and is actively engaged in a wide array of hobbies including football (that he still plays competitively). He is married to Michelle with whom he has a daughter, Mia.
